Exhausted By The Constant Demand For More?

Life rarely affords a pause button to the “doers” of the world—the ones checking off each day’s list and keeping the peace, often at the expense of their own time, energy, and resources. Even after another task is completed or another long day is over, these are the folks who beat themselves up over the fact that more wasn’t done.

If this sounds like you, it makes sense you’re burnt out. Life has seemingly turned into one never-ending series of “putting out fires” as you continue to take care of everything—and everyone—around you.

To them, you may appear calm, cool, and collected, but on the inside you’re restless, distracted, and in desperate need of a reset. The stress is taking its toll, disrupting everything from your sleep to your work performance to your overall quality of life. And you may find yourself wondering why you can never seem to quiet the inner voice that seems to always demand more, more, more.

In my practice, I work with doers, high-achievers, people-pleasers, and perfectionists. There’s a reason why stress and anxiety have become your default modes, and together in therapy we can figure out what those reasons are so you can live with more peace and self-satisfaction.

Anxiety Is The Brain’s Way Of Signaling That Something Is Off

Many of the people I work with in therapy feel overwhelmed and anxious, but they don’t know why. They’ve always been “successful” or the person that others rely on, leading to a sense of guilt or frustration that they aren’t living up to the role they’ve held onto for so long.

Yet, anxiety is often a sign that the way you’ve been doing things is no longer working. And common symptoms of anxiety—like obsessive thinking, feelings of panic, and dread about what might happen—may become your default mode if left unchecked. Years of living like this can result in deeply ingrained behaviors that are difficult to detect without the support of a therapist.

Even if you’ve tried to manage anxiety symptoms using surface-level approaches, lasting treatment requires a thorough examination of past patterns and root causes. Let’s work together in counseling to find out where your anxiety comes from so you can move beyond old habits to develop new, healthier ones.

Momentum Counseling & Psychotherapy Takes A Psychodynamic Approach In Therapy For Anxiety

It’s common for my clients to have been in other forms of therapy in the past only to continue experiencing stress, burnout, anxiety, and unease. But my approach is different because it actually gets to the heart of the matter.

As a psychodynamic therapist, I don’t just teach skills or grounding techniques—I work with clients to get to the root of their anxiety in therapy. I find that this kind of deep, explorative work helps the people I work with better understand their anxiety, identify what triggers it, and interpret the message it’s trying to communicate.

What To Expect

Early on, I will work to understand your presenting concerns as I learn more about how anxiety is impacting you. We’ll likely examine your early relationships and experiences so that I truly understand your story. Throughout the process, we will collaborate on achievable treatment goals in service of more self-compassion, healthier relationships, and a better quality of life.

Together, we’ll work to understand what is happening and why, and as the therapeutic process unfolds, you’ll develop insights about your behaviors that were hidden or misunderstood. As your self-understanding deepens through therapy, old habits and patterns become less useful moving forward and your anxiety becomes far more manageable.

Anxiety is common, but it’s also treatable. While you may be living in patterns that have been present for years, you do not have to be stuck in the cycle forever. Through the deep, focused work of psychodynamic therapy, you can transform your stress response in a way that will reduce your anxiety, strengthen your relationships, and improve your life.
